Join us for the opening of two incredible exhibitions, Jami Porter Lara: "Unhyphenated" and J. Matthew Thomas: "
In her most recent work, Jami Porter Lara engages the ancient techniques of pueblo potters to create sculptures inspired by the most iconic and ubiquitous vessel of our time: the plastic bottle. She describes the project as a kind of reverse archaeology: digging into the present and future using tools of the past. Unhyphenated is Porter Lara' second solo exhibition at the gallery.
Geometries is Thomas's first solo gallery exhibition in Albuquerque.J. Matthew Thomas uses the medium of painting and the tools of architecture in the making and breaking of visual patterns. In his current work, Thomas explores the "gray zone” between the chaos and order of everyday life, seeking order by creating geometrical patterns from the material debris of life’s habitual encounters.
